Global Engagement Director

Meet Bruce

God “kicked the door in” to save me in the summer of 1998 while I was in high school, and that summer began a rapid change of my identity and reputation among those who knew me previously. Two years later, I married my high school sweetheart, Denise. Those around me saw a calling on my life for ministry, and I was invited to lead with students at FBC Frisco.

During our years of discipling students, Denise and I began fostering vulnerable children and caring for those adopted internationally/domestically whose families struggled to care for them. Our family grew with biological children and foster children as God stretched us to steward our time and resources for his purposes. In 2006, we launched Embrace Texas, a non-profit that networks churches to care for vulnerable children and families. Today, I’m often recognized as “that one pastor with nine kids” (four biological, five adopted... and did I mention I’m a grandparent?).

I joined Watermark’s staff in 2017 to lead our foster care, adoption, and pro-life efforts. I also got to work alongside our internal Watermark ministries to integrate trauma-informed care. In 2023, I was asked to consider leading our International Missions efforts. While my passion for vulnerable children and families remained, God had given me a holy discontent and vision for what He might do with Watermark among the nations, and I joined the Global Team here as the next step of obedience.

If I’m not traveling to further our efforts to reach the unreached and strengthen the church, you’ll find me with Denise and our kids camping, hiking, cycling, enjoying Tex-Mex at Chuy’s, or continuing to care for the vulnerable here in our communities.
