Regis Johnson

South Dallas Care & Community Director

Meet Regis

Hi, I’m Regis. Don’t let the above-pictured overly enthusiastic smile convince you that “this guy has it all together.” I don’t. We moved around quite a bit growing up across the DFW metroplex. We lived as far north as Gunter and as far south as Cedar Hill. I’m the second son of four children with all the prechecked baggage that comes with being a middle son. Thankfully, I can’t remember a day that I didn’t think God was real. Even more thankfully, I remember a distinct moment on a mountain in Colorado when I realized that God was good. Though I made a profession of faith in 2006, I submitted to Jesus as Lord of my life and Savior of my soul on that mountain in 2015.

My greatest blessing apart from salvation is my dear wife Navia (who is the better athlete of the two of us). We met at a small school in Shreveport called Centenary College of Louisiana, where I played basketball and she did gymnastics. We then got married in 2021, which happens to be the same year I started Seminary! Timing hasn’t always been my forte. Anyway, attending Dallas Theological Seminary was like being a piece of silver thrown into a crucible. Nevertheless, I finished with my ThM in 2026.

Before coming to Watermark South Dallas, I worked in sports ministry for 6 years. The Lord grabbed a hold of my heart for pastoral ministry as I steadily studied throughout seminary and proclaimed the gospel to my athletes at the gym. Friendship with Pastor Marvin Walker, turned into discipleship, which grew into co-laboring in gospel proclamation towards the South Dallas community.

I still get nervous before I teach. I still have a D- average in small talk. I’m still a hustle guy in ministry (like I was on the court). And, I still love a good run, lift, hoop session, hike, movie, book, praise break, coffee shop, jazz night, arboretum hang, road trip, and run-on sentence.
