I was born and raised in Dallas in a God-centered and loving home. My parents intentionally raised us to love the Lord, and our family regularly attended a Spanish-speaking Assemblies of God Church. At the age of 12, I responded to a very traditional altar call moment, and believed upon the name of Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Although I was young, something shifted in my mind and heart that day.
After graduating from R.L. Turner High School (Carrollton, TX), I attended Texas Tech University and completed a bachelor’s degree in music theory and composition. Shortly after college graduation, I married my high-school sweetheart, Heather. By that point, I knew the Lord was calling me to serve him in the ministry, so I enrolled at Portland Seminary and completed a master’s degree. My first full-time pastoral position was at Redeemer Lubbock, where I served for almost 10 years. I then went to work for a church consulting firm headquartered in Dallas, so we moved back home. Over the years, I have also worked as an independent consultant for churches, parachurch ministries, and faith-based organizations in Latin America. Along the way, I earned a Doctor of Educational Ministry degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
I came to join the team at Watermark through a staff connection, and I’m so grateful to be part of the Kingdom work that is happening here.
Heather and I have three creative and energetic kids. You can usually find us hanging out with friends or family, exploring the city of Dallas, supporting the arts, or just reading a good book at home.
