I was born in Kettering, Ohio, but grew up in the land of fried chicken—Kentucky. My dad, his dad, and his dad before him were all pastors, so I spent a lot of time in church growing up. I gave my life to Christ at a young age and assumed that walking with Jesus would be easy. But when my dad suddenly passed away when I was 11, my easy, perfect life came crashing down. Through that tragedy and other difficult circumstances in the years that followed, I began to sense that God was equipping me for a call to ministry from a young age.
While attending the University of Kentucky, I stepped on a flyer for a summer camp called Pine Cove. That flyer led me to travel to the great nation of Texas for the first time. After college, I moved to Texas to join Watermark’s Residency program. Six months after completing the residency, I transitioned onto full-time staff at Watermark with the Kids Team as the 4th and 5th Grade Coordinator.
Over my 5.5 years in that role, life changed a lot. I married my beautiful bride, Mackenzie, and we welcomed our first kiddo, Caroline—followed by our second, Everett!
Following Jesus isn’t easy, but the good news is we don’t have to do it alone.
